Based in Rio de Janeiro and founded in 2008, the Latin American Training Center-LATC is a media training and consulting center focused on professionals of the audiovisual content industry. Its mission is to offer technical training and support through intensive programs, publications, competitions, workshops and creative seminars in English, Spanish and Portuguese to contribute to expansion of the industry throughout Latin America. LATC also operates a non-profit social impact filmmaking course, “Making my First Film,” aimed at the social inclusion of underprivileged youth in Rio de Janeiro favelas, in conjunction with the ABC Film School, the Rio de Janeiro Chamber of Commerce-ACRJ, the Special Secretariat for Rio de Janeiro Youth of the Municipality of Rio de Janeiro (JUVRio), and multiple private-sector partners.

The new article by Steve Solot highlights the regulatory framework for film commissions in Mexico as an example for Brazil

In his new article published on May 4 in the “Revista de Cinema,” Steve Solot, President of Latin American Training Center-LATC and Executive Director of the Brazilian Film Commission Network-REBRAFIC, comments the organization model of film commissions in Mexico. According to Solot, the Mexican model is aimed at providing a legislative framework to promote the general development of the film and audiovisual industry.  The new research on the nature and formats of film commissions in Mexico has also inspired a similar study to be undertaken in Brazil by REBRAFIC. read more…

The US launch of the LATC “Guide for Latin American Film Commissions” at the AFCI Locations Show and Global Production & Finance Conference

The Latin American Training Center-LATC announced its free guide in Spanish for Latin American Film Commissions at the AFCI Locations Show and Global Production & Finance Conference, the largest gathering and premier worldwide event of film commissions.  The event took place on April 6 in Los Angeles with the participation of representatives of 3 of the contributing authors, Melissa Patack (MPAA), Eric Klosterman (LGMA) and Ana Francisca Aizenberg (LAFCN). The Guide, first launched during the Ventana Sur Film Market in Buenos Aires last November, is a companion to the previous LATC “Guide for Film Commissions in Brazil,” published in 2015 in Portuguese with support by the Cesnik, Quintino & Salinas Law Firm.
