The Festival runs August 19-27, and the LATC Program will take place August 23-25.
The LATC Program in SANFIC includes:
Day 1: Seminar of interactive lectures conducted by three international experts
Topics include: Panorama of the US and global Market; Opportunities for co-production, sales and distribution. Legal Aspects of Film Production, Deal-making and Finance;
Multi-platform Business Models: Transmedia projects, digital release windows.
Day 2 (morning): Seminar on Pitching Techniques followed by Practical Pitching Workshop
Review of pitching techniques and communication skills, packaging, access to distributors, AFM and other markets. Pitching skills will be developed in small group pitch training sessions
Day 2 (afternoon): Two Round-Table Panels
PANEL 1: Opportunities in the global Audiovisual Sector: Traditional and New Technology formats
PANEL 2: Tips to get your Idea or Script Produced and Marketed
Day 3: Individual Technical Consulting for Professional Producers
Individual, professional consultations with the Industry experts (by appointment) to receive commercial, legal and technical feedback on their specific projects.
International Experts in the LATC Program in SANFIC include:
Harris Tulchin: Based in Los Angeles, founder and Chairman of Harris Tulchin & Associates, Ltd., Mr. Tulchin is the co-author of “The Independent Film Producer’s Survival Guide: A Business and Legal Sourcebook,” Third edition, 2010. He has specialized in production and entertainment, finance, distribution, communications and multimedia law since 1978. He served as Senior Vice President of Business Affairs y General Counsel for the Cinema Group and as Business Director in MGM Television; A graduate of Cornell University and Hastings Law School, he is a frequent lecturer at UCLA, the American Film Institute, Independent Filmmaker Project, and The Sundance Producer’s Conference.
Per Melita: Based in New York, Mr. Melita produced, together with Ben Odell, Padre Nuestro (“Our Father”), the first U.S. Spanish language film selected for the Sundance Film Festival, also winning the Grand Prize Jury Award. A member of the IFP Producer Alliance and Vice-president and co-founder of Cinergy Pictures, Mr. Melita has worked on more than 20 feature films as advisor and production manager in conjunction with film industry veterans, such as James Shamus (Good Machine, Focus Features), Ted Hope (Good machine, This Is That) and award winning producers Ross Katz (In the Bedroom, Lost in Translation), Paul Mezey (María llena eres de gracia) and Chris Moore (Goodwill Hunting, Project Greenlight, American Pie). As a producer and co-producer he has won awards in various festivals including Tribeca, Venice and the Independent Spirit Awards., Mr. Melita holds an MBA in Finance and Communication Media from Fordham University in New York. Per Melita currently works as producer on the following films: The Bleeding House, and Cooktales y Certainty, written and produced by Mike O’Malley (Glee, Parenthood, Eat Pray Love, 28 Days).
Steve Solot: President of the Latin American Training Center-LATC (Centro Latino-Americano de Treinamento e Assessoria Audiovisual), based in Rio de Janeiro. Prior to founding LATC, he was Senior Vice President, Latin America of the Motion Picture Association (MPA), responsible for management of all-media operations in all territories of the region: theatrical, home entertainment, broadcast television, Pay-TV, and protection of intellectual property rights in digital environments. MPA Member companies are: Buena Vista (Disney), Sony Pictures, Paramount Pictures, Twentieth Century Fox, Universal Films, Inc. and Warner Bros. International. He holds MA degrees in Economics from Boston University and in Latin American Studies from the University of the Pacific. He is also President of the Rio Film Commission, a combined office of the Rio de Janeiro City and State Governments.
