Taught by Professor Pedro Dannemann, the course aims to empower young talents from underserved communities and create a gateway for them into the audiovisual industry. The classes serve as a space for students to express their creativity and life experiences through cinema, using low-budget and independent production techniques to empower emerging young filmmakers. In the final stage of the course, students produce and film their own short films, working in crews formed by fellow classmates.
The project also provides transportation and meals for the selected youth, as well as maintenance of the facilities where the classes are held. Students develop their own projects from script to filming, and, after the course, the completed short films are screened in a movie theater during a showcase attended by family members, friends, community residents, sponsors, and public authorities. Participants receive an official certificate of course completion, and up to five students are eligible for awards.
