Revista de Cinema, Steve Solot, president of LATC, highlights President Donald Trump’s recent threat to impose a 100% tariff on foreign films — a measure that, while potentially harmful to the U.S. film industry, has reignited the debate over the lack of a federal incentive for audiovisual production. Steve also notes that, unlike other countries, the United States lacks international co-production treaties, and that Trump’s threat could, paradoxically, spur the creation of a federal policy capable of strengthening the country’s competitiveness in the global market.
